MESSI COOP

The Agricultural Cooperative Messi (Coop Messi) is one of the most dynamic and rapidly developing cooperatives in Greece. Being located in a privileged position at the heart of the fertile Imathia plain, a region renowned for the organized cultivation of high quality fruits, the cooperative has gained great experience and expertise in producing and distributing high quality products and has developed a wide network of clients in Europe, Canada, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

With 450 active members-farmers that grow 1.200 hectares of land, the Coop Messi has become one of the largest producers in the country, distributing each year around 15.000 tons of fresh dessert fruit and 10.000 tons of industrial peach.

Despite the current adverse environment in the international market, the strong competition and against the financial insecurity of our times, the Coop Messi, as part of its commercial extroversion, is being present participating in fairs throughout the world market, demonstrating its stability and consolidating relationships of trust with its clients, creating thus the appropriate commercial circumstances that lead to cooperation with established foreign commercial enterprises.

Having as constant goal high quality products, the cooperative implements with success a series of quality standards and food safety protocols such as GlobalGap, GlobalG.A.P. Grasp, BRC, IFS, ISO 22000 and ISO 9001, HACCP, AGRO 2.1 and AGRO 2.2

All production stages, from cultivation to standardization, packing and distribution, are completely certified, following the most strict safety and quality standards according to international and European quality assurance systems, adopted by the cooperative over the past decades.

The Coop Messi is located at Messi village of the Municipality of Veria in Imathia, where it maintains its main facilities along with storage premises, a state-of-the-art sorting and packing plant that allows the processing of 15.000 kgs of fruit per hour and Controlled Atmosphere cold storage rooms of a 2.000.000 kgs capacity, in a private area of a total covered space of 8.000 m².

The cooperative is also a founding member, holding 33%, of the cooperative association of “AL.M.ME” whose main activity is the production of canned fruits in one of the largest canning and fruit processing factories in Greece.
